Zebibyte
A zebibyte (ZiB) is a unit of digital data storage equal to \(2^{70}\) bytes, or approximately \(1.18\) sextillion bytes. It is part of the binary measurement system, where prefixes like "zebi" are used to avoid confusion with decimal-based units (like zettabytes) which have different values. A zebibyte is 1,024 exbibytes and is a very large unit of data storage used for future-scale computing.
Relationship to other binary units: A zebibyte is equal to 1,024 exbibytes (EiB).
Purpose: The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) introduced binary prefixes like "zebi" to clarify measurements in computing, as many systems used decimal prefixes like "kilo" for binary values.
Abbreviation: The standard abbreviation for zebibyte is ZiB.
