Web Browser
A web browser is a software application used to access and display information from the World Wide Web, such as webpages, images, and videos. It acts as an interface between a user and web servers, requesting content using protocols like HTTP and rendering the received files so users can view them. Popular examples include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge.
How it works: You provide a web address (URL) for a resource, like a website or a file. The browser sends a request to the server where the resource is located. The server sends the files back to the browser. The browser's rendering engine displays the information on your screen as a webpage, including text, images, and links.
Key functions
Retrieving and displaying content: Its primary function is to get and show web pages, images, videos, and other files from the internet or a local network.
Navigating: Browsers use hyperlinks to let you easily move between different web pages.
Searching: While a search engine is a separate tool, you use a web browser to access search engines and find new information.
Downloading: You can download files, applications, and other content directly to your device.
