Safe Mode
Safe Mode is a diagnostic startup mode for a computer's operating system that loads only the most essential files and drivers, allowing users to troubleshoot problems like software conflicts, driver issues, or malware. By running the system with a minimal set of components, it helps users identify and resolve problems that prevent a normal boot or cause system instability, as the offending software or drivers are bypassed.
What Safe Mode is: A diagnostic tool that starts a computer with a limited set of drivers and services. A troubleshooting environment where software, drivers, and programs that are not essential for the operating system are disabled. A way to fix most problems by providing a stable environment to run diagnostics or remove problematic software or drivers.
What Safe Mode is used for.
Uninstalling problematic software: If a recently installed application is causing crashes, Safe Mode allows you to uninstall it.
Fixing driver issues: You can roll back or update drivers that may be causing system instability or crashes.
Removing malware: Malware won't load properly in Safe Mode, making it easier to identify and remove.
Restoring the system: You can perform system restore or other recovery actions when the computer is unstable.
