Refresh Rate
Refresh rate is the number of times per second a display updates its image, measured in Hertz (\(Hz\)). A higher refresh rate, such as \(120Hz\) or \(144Hz\), results in smoother motion and reduced motion blur, which is especially beneficial for gaming and video content. It is determined by the monitor's capabilities, the video card, and the resolution.
What it is
A measure of frequency: The refresh rate measures how frequently the image on a screen is redrawn.
Measured in Hertz (\(Hz\)): A monitor's refresh rate is expressed in Hertz, where \(1Hz\) equals one cycle per second.
Example: A \(60Hz\) monitor refreshes the image on the screen 60 times every second, while a \(144Hz\) monitor refreshes it 144 times per second.
Why it matters
Smoother motion: Higher refresh rates produce a more fluid and realistic visual experience, as the image updates more frequently.
Reduced motion blur: With faster updates, there is less time for images to appear blurry or smeared during fast-paced action.
Improved responsiveness: In gaming, a higher refresh rate allows you to see the action more quickly, enabling faster reactions and making the game feel more immediate and responsive.
