Recycle Bin

index img

The "Recycle Bin" is a computer program where files and folders are temporarily stored after being deleted from a computer, allowing users to restore them if they were deleted by mistake. When a file is moved to the Recycle Bin, it is not permanently removed but is saved in a special folder until the user decides to permanently delete it by emptying the bin.

How it works

Temporary storage: When you delete a file, it goes into the Recycle Bin instead of being permanently removed.

Restoration: You can easily recover files from the Recycle Bin by selecting them and choosing to restore them to their original location.

Permanent deletion: To permanently delete files and free up storage space, you must open the Recycle Bin and empty it.

Storage space: The Recycle Bin occupies a certain amount of storage space on your hard drive, and older files may be automatically purged to make room for new ones once the allocated space is full.

Bypassing the bin: Some actions, like holding down the Shift key while deleting, can bypass the Recycle Bin and permanently delete a file immediately.
