Pop-Up
A "pop-up" in computing is a window, menu, or element that appears suddenly on a screen, often on top of other content, to provide information or require a user action. They can be used for legitimate purposes, such as displaying a menu of options when you right-click an item, or for marketing, like showing advertisements. However, they are also famously used by scammers to create false warnings and trick users into giving up personal information, which is why it's crucial to be cautious.
Types of pop-ups
Context-sensitive menus: A small window that appears when you right-click an element, showing a list of relevant options like "Copy," "Paste," or "Save".
Advertisements: A window or banner that appears on a website, often without being requested, to promote a product or service.
Alerts and warnings: A dialog box that appears to get your attention for an important action, such as entering a password, confirming a deletion, or warning of a system issue.
Marketing forms: A window that appears on a website to encourage visitors to sign up for a newsletter, get a discount, or provide their email address.
