A page view is a metric in web analytics that counts the total number of times a single page on a website is loaded or reloaded by users. It is a basic measure of content popularity and website traffic, but it includes repeat views from the same user.

Page view vs. unique page view

Understanding the distinction between page views and unique page views is essential for accurate analysis.

Page view: A count of every time a page is loaded. If a user visits a page, clicks refresh, and then navigates back to it, that's three page views.

Unique page view: A count of the number of unique sessions during which a page was viewed one or more times. In the example above, the same user's multiple actions would only count as one unique page view within a single session.
