Phishing

index img

Phishing is a type of cyberattack that uses fraudulent messages, websites, or emails to trick people into revealing sensitive information, such as passwords, credit card numbers, or bank account details. These messages impersonate legitimate sources like banks or companies to make the request seem trustworthy. The goal is often to steal your identity, money, or to get you to install malware.

How it works

Impersonation: A scammer poses as a trustworthy entity, like a bank, a popular website, or a government agency.

Deceptive communication: They send emails, text messages, or create websites that look very similar to the real ones to build a sense of legitimacy.

Urgency or fear: The messages often create a sense of urgency, claim there's a problem with your account, or use fear to pressure you into acting quickly without thinking.

Data theft: The message directs you to click a link or open an attachment, which can lead to a fake login page where you enter your information, or it may directly ask for it.
