Outbox

index img

An outbox is a temporary folder in an email or messaging application where outgoing messages are held after you click "Send" but before they have been successfully delivered. The outbox acts as a waiting area for emails that are being processed or are awaiting a connection to the mail server.

How the outbox works

The purpose of the outbox is to ensure the reliability of your messages, especially if there is an issue with your internet connection or email server.

Preparation: After you write an email and click the send button, the message is placed in your outbox.

Transmission: Your email client or app then connects to the mail server to begin the transmission process.

Delivery: If the connection and delivery are successful, the email is automatically moved from your outbox to your "Sent" folder.
