Minimize

In computing, "minimize" is the act of reducing a program's window to a small icon or button on the taskbar or toolbar, allowing you to hide it while keeping it easily accessible. This action is performed by clicking a specific button (often a dash icon) in the window's title bar.

What minimizing does

Hides the window: It removes the window from the main screen display without closing the program completely.

Saves space: It frees up the desktop so you can see other items or windows clearly.

Allows easy access: The program's icon remains on the taskbar, so you can click it to quickly restore the window to its previous size and position.

How to minimize a window

Click the minimize button: Click the icon with a dash or underscore in the top-right corner of the window.

Use keyboard shortcuts: On Windows, you can press the Windows key + Down arrow or Windows key + D to minimize the current window or all windows, respectively.
