LPI is an acronym that can refer to several different computer and technology terms, most commonly Lines Per Inch (a measure of printing resolution). In printing, a higher LPI value indicates a finer, more detailed image.

Lines Per Inch (LPI)

Description: A measurement of resolution in commercial printing, representing the number of lines in a halftone screen per inch.

What it means: A higher LPI means more lines, resulting in a finer screen of dots that creates a more detailed and sharper image.

Example: Newsprint may be printed at 85 LPI, while high-quality magazines can use 150 LPI or higher on glossy paper.

Other meanings of LPI

Low Probability of Intercept (LPI): A term in computer security and radar technology referring to systems designed to be difficult to detect and analyze.

Leading Performance Indicator (LPI): A business metric that predicts future performance, as opposed to a lagging indicator which measures past performance.

Lenticule Per Inch (LPI): In lenticular printing, this refers to the number of small lenses per inch on the lenticular sheet.
