Joystick
A joystick is a computer input device that uses a hand-held, pivoting stick to control movement on a screen, commonly used for gaming and flight simulators. It translates the stick's physical movement in multiple directions into digital signals that a computer can use to control an on-screen object or character. Most joysticks also include one or more buttons for additional functions.
How it works
Physical movement: You move the stick to control movement, which can be in two or three dimensions, depending on the joystick.
Signal conversion: The joystick's movement is translated into electrical signals, which are then converted into digital commands for the computer.
On-screen control: These digital signals tell the computer how to move an in-game object, such as a character, vehicle, or cursor.
Additional buttons: Many joysticks have extra buttons, often on the stick or base, that can be used to perform actions like firing a weapon, jumping, or other in-game functions.
