ICS
ICS is an acronym with multiple meanings in computing, most commonly Internet Connection Sharing, a Windows feature for sharing a single internet connection across a local network, and Industrial Control System, a system that manages industrial processes like manufacturing and power grids. Other meanings include iCalendar Schedule, an email invitation format, and an Internet Chess Server for playing games online.
Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
What it is: A Windows service that allows a computer with an internet connection to share it with other devices on a local network (LAN).
How it works: The computer sharing its connection acts as a gateway, using Network Address Translation (NAT) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to manage the shared connection for other computers.
Purpose: To let multiple devices share one internet connection without needing a separate router.
