iTunes
iTunes was an Apple application for media playback, management, and device syncing, allowing users to organize and play music, movies, and podcasts, and purchase them from the iTunes Store. On macOS, it has been replaced by dedicated apps for Music, TV, and Podcasts, while a version for Windows still exists for managing podcasts and audiobooks, or for PCs that don't meet the requirements for the newer apps.
Functions of iTunes
Media playback and organization: It served as a media player for digital music and video files and included features to organize them into libraries and playlists.
Media management: Users could rip audio from CDs and burn their own CDs and DVDs.
Device syncing: A central function was to sync content like music from a computer to an Apple device such as an iPod or iPhone, and to back up and restore those devices.
Purchasing and downloading: The integrated iTunes Store allowed users to buy and download music, movies, TV shows, and podcasts.
Device firmware management: It was also used to update the firmware on iPhones and iPads.
