Host
A host computer is any computer or device connected to a network that can send and receive data. It acts as a source of information or services for other devices, such as clients or other hosts, on the same network. In practice, a "host" can be a wide range of devices, from powerful servers and mainframe computers to personal computers, smartphones, or even smaller devices.
Network resource: A host computer can be a server that provides services like web hosting, email hosting, or database hosting to other devices.
Client machine: It can also be a client device, like a user's desktop or laptop, that connects to a network and uses services from other hosts.
Identifier: To be recognized on a network, a host has a unique hostname and an IP address.
Role in architecture: The term is fundamental to understanding network communication, as hosts form the basic framework for the internet and other networks.
