Hit
In computing, "hit" most commonly refers to a single request for a file from a web server, such as an image, script, or HTML page. It can also mean a successful result from a search query or, in the context of Amazon Mechanical Turk, a Human Intelligence Task. The term can also stand for Health Information Technology, which involves using computers to manage healthcare information.
Internet and web
Web hit: A request for a single file from a web server. A single webpage often generates multiple hits because it contains many elements like images, CSS, and JavaScript files.
Search hit: A successful result for a search query, such as a website that appears in the search results.
