Function Key

index img

A function key is a key on a computer keyboard, labeled F1 through F12, that performs a specific task depending on the active application or operating system. On laptops and some other keyboards, the Fn key is a modifier key that is held down with a function key to access its secondary, built-in functions, which often include media and display controls like volume or brightness.

Function Keys (F1-F12): These are a set of programmable keys at the top of the keyboard. They can be used alone or in combination with other keys like Ctrl or Alt. The specific action of each key changes depending on the program you are using. For example, pressing F5 can refresh a web page, while F1 often opens a help menu.

Fn Key: This is a modifier key, primarily found on laptops, used to activate a secondary function on other keys. It is held down while another key is pressed, similar to how the Shift key works. On some keyboards, an "F-Lock" key may also exist to switch between the primary and secondary functions of the F-keys.
