Cc
In computer and email communication, Cc stands for "carbon copy" and is used to send a copy of an email to one or more additional recipients who are not the primary recipients but should be kept informed. The term originates from a time before photocopiers, when carbon paper was used to create duplicate copies of a document as it was typed.
How it works
To field: Contains the primary recipient(s) who are meant to read and action the message.
Cc field: Contains the email addresses of other recipients who receive a copy of the email but are not expected to reply.
Visibility: All recipients in both the "To" and "Cc" fields can see the other email addresses in those fields, ensuring everyone is aware of who else is involved.
Purpose and usage
Informing others: Cc is used to keep others in the loop about a conversation or document, such as team members on a project.
Courtesy: It serves as a courtesy to include people in the communication without making them the main point of the message.
Etiquette: Using Cc appropriately is an important aspect of good email etiquette, signaling to recipients that they are included for awareness but don't need to respond.
