Computer
A computer is a programmable electronic device that accepts data (input), processes it according to programmed instructions (software), stores it, and produces information (output). It consists of hardware, the physical components, and software, the sets of instructions that direct the hardware's actions. Computers perform a wide range of tasks, from basic calculations and data management to communication and complex creative work, and come in various forms like smartphones, laptops, and servers.
Key Functions
Input: The computer receives data or instructions from input devices like a keyboard or mouse.
Processing: The Central Processing Unit (CPU) (or processor) manipulates the data according to the rules given by software.
Storage: The computer can store data and programs for future use.
Output: The processed information is presented to the user through output devices, such as a monitor or printer.
Components
Hardware: All the physical parts of a computer, including the CPU, memory (RAM), hard drive, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
Software: The intangible instructions and programs that tell the hardware what to do, including operating systems and applications.
