Access Point
An Access Point (AP) is a networking device that creates a wireless local area network (WLAN) or extends an existing wired network by allowing wireless devices to connect to it, typically a network or the internet, using radio waves. Acting as a bridge, it receives data from your device, converts it to a wireless signal, and broadcasts it, enabling wireless access for multiple users and devices without physical cables.
Access Point vs. Router
Access Point: Provides wireless connectivity for existing wired networks.
Router: Manages the entire network, acting as a hub that routes data between your local network and the internet. A wireless router, often confused with a simple access point, is a device that combines the router's functionality with that of an access point.
